But to be the best dive watch, you need to start with the surgical stainless steel case, case back and crown combination. These must be perfect to withstand depths down to 300 meters, or 1,000 feet. Vostok-Europe actually includes the depth test result of your individual watch in the package.
Of course the Automatic (self-winding) movement is also critical. Vostok-Europe now uses the legendary NH35A SII Japanese automatic movement. Why not Swiss, you might ask? Because this Japanese movement has been war tested in the most extreme conditions in modern history. Ask any soldier and they'll swear by this movement for toughness in battle.
Vostok-Europe has now also become a leader in innovative use of self-powered Swiss Tritium Illumination. The use of two tritium tubes in an arrow shape is brilliant. There is no question in determining the hour hand versus the minute hand. Plus the use of yellow and green tritium assures you tell the exact time at a glance.
The watch straps (and you get two extremely fine quality straps, one leather and one rubber dive)) are held in place by two heavy duty steel screws, not push pins. You are not going to loose this watch, ever!! A set of extremely heavy duty screw drivers is included.
